STATE REVENUE COMMITTEE

OF THE MINISTRY OF FINANCE OF THE REPUBLIC OF KAZAKHSTAN

Press Release

Tax amnesty: 27,903 taxpayers repaid the amount of arrears registered as of October 1, 2018,

for a total amount of 5.9 billion tenge

Currently, In order to implement the instructions of the Head of State for granting a tax amnesty for individuals by writing off the accrued interest, provided that the principal debt is paid, the state revenue authorities are working over an issue of granting a tax amnesty for individuals, namely, the criteria for individuals and the amount of debt, based on which the tax amnesty will be granted.

In the near future, the proposals developed will be submitted for coordination with the concerned state authorities.

We would like to remind that from February 8, 2019, the Rules for writing off the amount of penalties and fines will come into effect, subject to payment of the amount of arrears.

These Rules were developed and approved pursuant to the instructions of the Head of State, designated in the Message to the People of Kazakhstan on October 5, 2018 “Growth of Kazakhstan’s Welfare: Increasing Income and Living Standards” on granting a tax amnesty for small and medium-sized businesses from January 1, 2019 to write off penalties and fines subject to the payment of the principal tax amount.

Until now, 27,903 taxpayers have repaid the amount of arrears registered as of October 1, 2018, for a total amount of 5.9 billion tenge.

Thus, in the near future following the introduction of the Rules in relation to the above taxpayers penalties in the amount of 1.1 billion tenge and fines in the amount of 100 million tenge will be written off.

At the same time, it is not necessary for small and medium-sized businesses to apply to state revenue authorities: the penalties and fines will be written off without a taxpayer’s application, with the exception of those taxpayers who are provided tax deferral/installment payment plan for paying taxes or are in a rehabilitation procedure.
