It was also decided to cancel the current pilot project for  labeling and traceability of alcoholic beverages.

On September 16 this year,  a regular meeting on labeling and traceability of goods in the Republic of Kazakhstan was held under the chairmanship of the First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan A. Smailov.

In particular, the issues of implementing a pilot project on labeling and traceability of dairy products, tobacco and alcohol products were considered.

During the meeting, the First Deputy Prime Minister A. Smailov noted that the labeling system of goods carries a certain burden to retail sellers-small businesses.

"Following the results of this meeting, the Ministry of Finance was instructed to continue labeling tobacco products only at the level of manufacturers/importers and wholesale sellers. At the same time, it will be enough for retail sellers to confirm receipt of goods in the information system of a Single labeling Operator without purchasing and using 2D scanners. Thus, an additional financial and administrative burden on small businesses is excluded," - the State Revenue Committee reported.

It was also decided to cancel the current pilot project on labeling and traceability of alcoholic beverages, while bad-faith market participants and illegal products will be detected through tax and civil control.

The National Chamber of Entrepreneurs of the Republic of Kazakhstan "Atameken" fully supported the decisions announced during this meeting.

In addition, in order to protect consumers from the consumption of counterfeit products, the Ministry of Trade and Integration was instructed to strengthen explanatory work on the positive aspects of the labeling system and traceability of goods.
